FLIGHT TO FIGHT ridden by Josh Micheals
'Why does she have me up at the crack of dawn' I wonder as I walked out towards the barn. I had recived a text from my boss, Candi, telling me to be here ready to get to work. 'Why? Whats the big rush?'... I stumble into the barn that was empty the night before to noises... Loud noises. Snorts and pawing... Horse!
Candi! I called out. Questions were running through my mind as I started to search for my boss. Where did she get them from? How old? Lineage? Genders? Names? ....
Over here! Candi called as she was tacking up a beauiful grey horse..
Where did they come from? When?... Wha-How? I said as I looked the young horse over.
Candi
I looked at Josh and smirked. Oh, don't you wish you knew... I stuck my tongue out at him and handed him the lead rope. This is Miss I said patting the grey filly, admiring her strong hind end. She is two years old and is the start to our racing line. I said and smiled as I finally had everything coming together like it should. She isn't anything fancy, but does have what I want in my stock. She is a short runner from what I am told.... But we will test her out a bit and see what she really likes.. I said rumbling on. Oh! And She has raced. Once. Came in fifth out of five... I said a bit disappointed. But thats okay.. .Just needs some work.. Josh just was in aw as he looked at the filly. Its been a while since Candi had hired him and at the time they had no rideable horses. It was in the plans he was told. Finally. The time was here.
Am I going to get to ride her? He said, looking dumbfounded at Candi.
Of course silly! I said smiling. We are going to take her out now and try her out I said playfully as. I started to walk out of the barn, glancing back to see if he was following with Miss.I nodded, unable to speak, and followed Candi out towards the track, leading Miss. The filly pranced at my side and lunged forward suddenly.
Woah! Easy girl I said calmly, trying to control the filly. Miss pinned her ears back and snorted, trying to back away from me.
Come on girl... Its okay I said softly and tugged the lead gently. Miss hoped forward suddenly and throw her head to the side, towards me. I moved out of the way, thinking Crazy filly. Miss started to walk forward and unwillingly followed Josh.
-AT THE DIRT TRACK!-
When they arrived at the track, Candi and Josh went over a game plan. He was just going to take her around the track and see how she felt, and maybe do some warming up.
At least I was on a horse again... I thought as I walked Miss in a circle. She was very head strong and wanted things her way. When I first got on her, she wanted to run right away, but I would not allow it. Then she started to act up, but now I have her under some control. But this filly has a mind of her own I noticed.
Okay, Miss. Lets go. I said and urged her deeper on to the track. At first we were walking, then I asked her to trot. Miss had her own mind. The filly started to gallop like a mad horse.
Ahh. Easy girl I said as he pulled back on the reins, slowing her into a trot. Miss pinned her ears back but willingly listened to her rider.
Warm up first Miss... I mumbled as he warmed the filly up for about fifteen minutes. Once he felt she was ran he asked her to gallop. It was't going to be a long run, just... a test drive.
When ask to do so the run bounded forward into a gallop. This is what she was waiting for. To run. She loved to run. It was like she was in heaven. She was a smooth ride... Well smooth as can be expected.
I gave her a bit more rein, allowing her to ran a bit more freely and faster if wanted. But her pace didn't change much..... I smiled and after a few furlong or so I eased the filly down to a canter, then eventually a trot...
How was she!/ I yelled to Josh as he neared on the grey filly. She looked good from here I thought.... But we didnt push her to hard today.. It was just a practice run.. Test run.
I walked to filly towards Candi and asked her to stop. She was still breathing a bit heavy...
She was great... I can't wait... Needs some work... But thats fine.. I said... thinking... I nodded towards Candi, then urged Miss into a walk, wanting to cool her off more.
When I was done cooling her off, I took her back to the stables. I hosed her down, groomed her and made sure she was fed and had plenty of water before I went to find Candi.. This was going to be a fun year..
