Ignite ridden by Matt Allen
Easy with Ash today. Just something to stretch his legs and get him ready for his big race that is coming up. Candi said. Matt rolled his eyes. I don't understand why you put him in such a big race anyhow! He said a bit harsh. Your setting him up to lose. He is up against colts that have more experience! Why did you even enter him? Matt said as the colt pranced under him. Ash was getting impatient and he didn't like the tone Matt used when talking. It made the young colt nervous. I entered Ash in the race because I know he has the will to run. I know he is a strong runner. I think he has what it does. And so what if he loses? Candi glared at him. Maybe so was being tough on the horse, putting him in big racers, but Candi was confident the colt would do okay. Stop judging my decision and get to work! She snapped and spun around. She stormed away a distances before turning around to watch the colt. Matt so wanted to yell at her but he held his tongue. He gave a swift kick to the colt sending him into a trot down the track. Ash sensed Matt's mood and was very uneasy about it. The colt's easy were pinned back against his head. I dont understand her... Matt whispered and he urged the colt into a canter. He warmed the colt up a little bit longer and when he felt that Ash was ready he kicked him into a gallop. Ash snorted at how harsh Matt was being and shot forward. Wow.. Matt said as he steady himself. Easy boy... He said reeling him in some. He didn't want to run him hard.. Just enough to make him want to run more later. The black colt was fun of surprises. He had speed when he wanted... Matt made a note, next time the horses need to be worked, work them together. Mock race? Candi needed more jockeys for that to happen though.... After a few furlongs of a easy gallop, Matt slowed the colt down and cool him off. Ash didn't want to stop, he wanted to run... That was a good sign. Maybe he would do okay? It wasn't like we expected him to win or anything... After cooling the colt off Matt dismounted and started walking him towards the stables, ignoring Candi. He had a lot to think about. And yeah he wasn't in Candi's shoes but he wanted to help make the decision with the horses... Since one day he would be owner of them too.
